Janet Kilonzo is a Kenyan-Rwandese Actor currently based in New York City.
Janet’s acting journey began in primary school and advanced on to her acceptance at the National Youth Theatre in Great Britain during the Summer of 2017.
Soon after, Janet moved to the States after being accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NY. Graduating from the program in 2020, Janet was one of the few to be accepted into the Academy’s 2020-21 Company. In the Academy, Janet is known for her performances as Brutus in Julius Caesar and Nurse in Romeo and Juliet.
Janet has worked with the WP Theatre, The Arctic Cycle, The National Queer Theatre etc.
Most recently, Janet performed at Lincoln Centre during the Criminal Queerness Festival. She played Achan in Achiro Olwoch’s The Survival and was part of the ensemble in the staged reading of Courage Rebirth directed by Ann C James.
Janet has enjoyed being on stage from a young age and uses her hobbies and fruitful culture to fuel all that she does both on screen and stage. She always has a fun time picking up phrases in different languages and adopting them to her own. She can always be found in a boba shop or in the cinema.
